Revo Kitchen & Terrace review

Revo Kitchen & Terrace is a Weston-super-Mare institution. It sits right on the waterfront, offering wonderful views of the estuary from inside and out. Sliding glass doors line the restaurant and open to a wraparound balcony perfect for al fresco dining in warm weather – there are even firepits to set the scene for sunset cocktails. Inside, there are tables for dining and comfy sofas to sink into while enjoying a coffee and a slice of cake from the excellent selection. We visited Revo on a Sunday at the end of September, when autumn was setting in. While rain lashed the windows and waves rushed up the beach, we settled into a cosy corner beneath the ambient hanging lightbulbs. The beachside setting certainly doesn’t mean that Revo is just a summertime spot.

There’s something for every appetite on the menu, whether you’re visiting for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. The brunch menu includes tempting dishes like the breakfast burrito and doorstop sandwiches filled with back bacon and fried eggs. Loaded mac & cheese and toasties are on the lunch menu, alongside quesadillas. We tried the pulled pork quesadilla packed with pico de gallo, salsa, Mexican slaw, and mozzarella. We also ordered the sweet & spicy buttermilk chicken burger – with cheese and a hash brown inside, it’s scrumptious. As we were beside the sea, we couldn’t resist an ice cream so shared the Revo Whippy. The generous sundae is heaped with salted caramel and chocolate sauce, Oreo crumbs, and fudge pieces, and topped with whipped cream and Flakes. It was the perfect way to end a truly delightful meal.

A local musician performed while we dined, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was wonderful, with friendly staff on-hand but unobtrusive. They went out of their way to make our dog feel welcome, too, setting him up with a blanket, a bowl and treats that he devoured. They even took a Polaroid of him for their Doggy Wall of Fame.

Revo offers excellent casual dining in a stunning setting. We can’t wait to return – it’s our new favourite brunch hangout.
